What is Nutritional Therapy / Naturopathy?

Nutritional Therapy and Naturopathy (or Naturopathic medicine) is a health philosophy that combines the body’s innate self-healing capabilities with the healing power of nature. 100’s of years old, it was the source of early medicine before pharmaceutical drugs.

It is often labelled as alternative medicine (used for effective treatment where all else has been unsuccessful), complementary medicine (as treatment may be utilised concurrently with orthodox medicine) and holistic medicine (by treating the body wholly rather than just a symptoms or disease). Naturopathy looks to maintain our balance between the structural, biochemical and mental/emotional elements. When any of these are disturbed, the ensuing imbalance results in ill health or disease.

A number of techniques are used to restore balance (e.g. herbalism, nutrition, iridology, Bach flower therapy, mineral therapy, detoxification). Naturopathy may benefit an extensive range of chronic and acute issues as well as overall wellbeing. Responsibility for your own health is a key to Naturopathy and therefore education is invaluable to the treatment.
