What is Chiropractic Therapy?

The practice of chiropractic therapy is an established and regulated healthcare profession in the UK. At the Fairlee Wellbeing Centre, our chiropractic therapists are primarily concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical issues of the musculoskeletal system. By fully understanding these we aim to mitigate the negative effects of these disorders on the general functioning of the patient’s nervous systems and overall health status.

Here at the Fairlee Wellbeing Centre you will find a strong emphasis on manual treatments including bone or spinal manipulation, targeted adjustments and specific deep massage.

We can play a significant role in helping you to find relief from various conditions and underlying disorders by helping you to restore balance and order to the functioning of your musculoskeletal system, and help you to overcome the resulting pain and discomfort that such conditions can cause.

Our Chiropractors take a holistic, all round approach to your health and well-being, taking the time to get to know you personally and getting a full and up to date medical history to pin-point the exact cause of your symptoms. In our experience, only a fully rounded approach that takes in the context of your lifestyle and personal circumstances can lead to best possible treatment.

We recognise that one of any number of factors can contribute towards musculoskeletal tension and in the past we have treated patients suffering from accidents, stress, poor posture, illness and lack of exercise. Everyday wear and tear damage happens to all of us as we continue to grow older, especially for those people who have enjoyed a long sporting life. The Fairlee Wellbeing Centre is here to help anyone suffering from discomfort and pain.

The effectiveness of chiropractic treatment is supported by research as well as by various UK government and medical organisations.

How can Chiropractic help me?

Chiropractors provide care for patients of all ages, who present with a range of acute and chronic conditions. As well as advice about self-help, exercise, diet and lifestyle, chiropractors often provide support for pain management, sports injuries and active rehabilitation.

Chiropractors take an integrated and holistic approach to the health needs of their patients, considering physical, psychological and social factors.

They provide care and support by reducing pain and disability and by restoring normal function to people with neuro-musculoskeletal disorders.

The main problems treated are:

  • Lower and Upper pain in the Back
  • Neck Pains and Whiplash
  • Shoulder / Elbow pain
  • Headaches / Migraines
  • Sports injuries
  • Joint problems
  • Chronic pain
  • Repetitive strain injury
  • Postural spine problems

How many visits will I need?

This will depend on:

  • Your condition and its severity
  • Time length of the condition
  • How you respond to treatment
  • How much of your chiropractor’s advice you follow.

After your first examination and diagnosis, how long any further visits last will depend on your condition and the treatment you need.

The chiropractor will review your progress regularly and you will be asked to give your consent to any changes to your treatment plan. They will discuss carrying out further investigations or referring you to your GP if necessary.
